How to show Rulers

- Ruler allows you to create an object based on the measurement.

To Draw Stars
- You can draw stars from 3 to 360 points. To set a number of points greater than 25, enter a value directly in the text box. You can also vary the angle of acuteness.
- Double-click the Polygon tool to open the Polygon tool Options panel.
- Click on the Shape drop down box to choose Star:
- Hold down the mouse button and drag it to draw the star:
To release an Instance from a Symbol
- Select the instance Choose Modify > Symbol > Break Link.
- This will release an instance to symbol.
To work with Tweening Instances
- Tweening is a traditional animation term that describes the process in which a lead animator draws only the key frames, while assistants draw the frames in between.
- Below is the rectangle used to create the Tweening Instances.
- Select the object and convert it to Symbol:
- Duplicate the rectangle. Move one rectangle to left and select all of them:
- Choose modify>symbol>tween instance
- You can type a value to Steps. Click OK button to complete the setting:
- Play the animation and you will see the rectangle moving to the right.
To add Web URL
- When you enter a URL in the Object inspector or URL panel, you can enter an absolute URL or a relative URL.
- If you are linking to a Web page that is beyond your Web site, you must use an absolute URL.
- If you are linking to a Web page within your Web site, you can use an absolute URL or a relative URL.
- Absolute URLs are complete URLs that include the server protocol, which is usually http:// for Web pages. For example, http://www.macromedia.com/support/Fireworks is the absolute URL for the Macromedia Fireworks Support Web page.
- Choose window> URL
- Select the object. Type the web address on the URL text. The URL will be added to the object.
To automatically Rotate Image
- Rotate command will rotate the image automatically.
- Choose the image to be rotated:
- Choose command>animation>rotate
- Then this will create the rotating animation.
- Click the Play button the view the animation:
- You will see the image rotating automatically.
To convert Sepia Tone
- Below is the image that you wanted to convert:
- Choose command>creative>convert to sepia tone
- Then the image will be converted:
To convert Image to Grayscale
- Below is the image with the default color:
- Choose command>creative>convert to Grayscale
- The image will be converted to Grayscale type:
To work with History Panel
- With the History panel, you can view, change, and repeat the history of your document.
- The History panel lists the most recent actions you have performed in Fireworks, up to the number specified in the Number of Undo's Preference.
- This is an object created in Fireworks:
- You can view the Step in the History panel.
- Choose windows>history to open history panel.
- Screen below shows the Step of creating the object:
- Move the marker up or down to get to the Step:
To convert Text to Path
- To reshape, erase, and otherwise manipulate text as paths using the path editing tools, you can convert it to its component path objects.
- Below is a sample text:
- Select the text and choose text>convert to path
- Convert the text to path.
- You can now use the Path-editing tools to reshape the text.
- Move the path of text to anywhere you want:
To add Shadow to an Object
- Select the object that you want to add shadow.
- Open the Effect editor. Choose the shadow and glow>drop shadow.
- The object will be added the Shadow effect:
To apply Embossing Effects
- Use the Emboss effect to make an image appear raised or inset from its background. You can apply an inset emboss effect or a raised emboss effect.
- You can create a rectangle as below:
- Choose window>effect to open effect
- Click on the drop down box to choose Bevel and Emboss>inner bevel
- The rectangle will be added the Inner Bevel effect:
To change the Canvas Color
- The default color of canvas is white. You can change it to another color.
- Choose modify >canvas color.
- This will show the Canvas Color dialog box. Choose Custom and select the color.
- Then click on Ok button.
- Color of the canvas will be changed.
To work with Object Editor
- The object allows you to change the Image Color properties
- Insert an image to the Fireworks.
- Click the Object button to show the Object Editor.
- You can adjust the image color type by selecting from the drop down box.
- Here is the image that has been adjusted to different type:
To create a Button
- Fireworks allows the user to create a button.
- Choose insert>new button
- This will open the Button editor:
- Create a rectangle and fill in the style:
- Select the Over tab and click the Copy Up graphic. Fill another style on it.
- Close the Button dialog box. Your new button will be created.
- You can preview your button effect in the Preview tab.
To work with Fill Editor
- You can edit ‘Fill’ to create paths with a variety of solid, dithered, pattern or gradient characteristics, from solid colors to gradients resembling satin, ripples or folds.
- Draw a rectangle as shown below:
- Choose window>fill
- Then this will display the Fill editor:
- Choose ‘Folds’ from the drop down box:
- Folds will fill the rectangle:
